Privacy Policy

Voice Guardian is an Android application designed to help users find a misplaced phone by using a saved voice or sound trigger. The app is built around local, on-device processing: voice profiles and recognition data are stored on the user's device and are not uploaded to a Voice Guardian server.

1. Information We Collect

Voice Guardian may store or process the following information on your device:

• Voice recordings and voice profiles: When you record a trigger phrase or sound sample, the app saves audio files and recognition embeddings locally on your device.
• App settings: The app stores settings such as selected recognition mode, sensitivity level, alarm sound, guide status, and local premium state.
• Alarm and monitoring state: The app may store small local flags, such as whether a real monitoring alarm recently matched, so the app can continue the correct flow when opened later.
• Advertising data: Voice Guardian uses Google AdMob. Google may collect advertising identifiers, device information, and ad interaction data according to Google's own policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used to:

• Create and manage voice profiles for Voice Match and Sound Match recognition modes.
• Run Test Mode so users can verify whether their saved trigger phrase or sound works.
• Run Real Monitoring when enabled by the user, including waiting while the phone is idle or locked before listening.
• Play an alarm when the saved trigger is detected.
• Show advertisements through Google AdMob, unless ads are removed by an available premium option.

3. Data Storage & Security

Local voice processing: Voice Guardian does not send your recorded voice profiles to a Voice Guardian server. Voice recordings, recognition embeddings, and app settings are stored in the app's local storage on your device.

No cloud account or sync: Voice Guardian currently does not provide cloud accounts or voice profile synchronization. If you uninstall the app, Android removes the app's local data, including saved voice profiles.

Your device controls access: Local data is protected by Android's app sandbox. Anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to access or delete data through the app or Android settings.

4. Third-Party Services

Voice Guardian integrates with Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob is operated by Google and may collect or process information such as advertising identifiers, approximate device information, ad impressions, and ad interactions. This data is handled under Google's policies, not by Voice Guardian directly. For more information, please visit Google's Privacy Policy.

If a premium ad-removal option is offered through Google Play in the future, purchase processing will be handled by Google Play Billing. Voice Guardian does not receive or store your full payment card details.

5. Permissions Requested

The application requires the following permissions:

• RECORD_AUDIO: To record voice profiles, run Test Mode, and listen during Real Monitoring when enabled by the user.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE: To keep Real Monitoring transparent and visible while microphone-related monitoring is active.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To show service and alarm notifications on supported Android versions.
• INTERNET: To load Google AdMob advertisements.
• VIBRATE: To vibrate the phone when an alarm is triggered.
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used only for compatibility with older Android versions. Current voice files are stored in the app's own storage area.

6. Microphone and Real Monitoring Behavior

Voice Guardian uses the microphone only for app features that require audio input. Recording starts when you tap Record. Test Mode listens only while you enable Test Mode. Real Monitoring listens only after you enable the guard mode and the phone has been idle or locked for the configured waiting period. When the phone is opened or user activity is detected, Real Monitoring returns to an idle waiting state.

Voice Guardian does not perform speech-to-text transcription, does not upload your voice to a cloud speech service, and does not continuously send microphone audio to any server.

7. User Rights and Controls

You have the right to:

• Delete saved voice profiles from within the app.
• Clear all local app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored voice profiles and settings.
• Turn Test Mode and Real Monitoring on or off at any time.
• Revoke microphone, notification, or other permissions through Android settings.
• Manage ad personalization through Android and Google ad settings.

8. Data Retention

Voice profiles and associated local data remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall Voice Guardian. AdMob-related data retention is controlled by Google under Google's policies.

9. Children's Privacy

Voice Guardian is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can help address the issue.

10. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for updates.
